Lil Wayne thought Chris Brown vs. Drake humorous

Lil Wayne thought Chris Brown vs. Drake humorous

Nadeska Alexis wrote an interesting for MTV, which revealed that when Lil Wayne was asked about his opinion concerning the Chris Brown vs. Drake conflict that took place at the WIP the rapper admitted he simply laughed at the whole thing. Specifically, the “New Orleans native told MTV News that the incident was humorous to him,” according to Alexis.
“Honestly, I laughed at them,” he said, not able to contain his laughter, even in that moment. “I can’t front, I just laughed at them… like, it’s funny to me. I thank God I ain’t going through it though, I’ve already been through too much,” MTV reported.
On Thursday Brown beat Drake at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, receiving VMA’s coveted Best Male Video moonman; an honor Drake was up for, too. But that’s not all Brown seemed to win Thursday night. Once you considered how the night went for Brown, it appeared he overcame his haters by receiving both, the girl and VMAs Top Award for male artists. We can only thing that since Breezy takes top VMA, he is probably saying “Who’s laughing now.”
According to a report from Hollywood Life, Chris won a VMA for Best Male Video for his song “Turn Up the Music.” And Drake? He was part of a joke host Kevin Hart told, but Chris was in on that as well!
Looking dapper in a gray suit and sunglasses, Brown sauntered onto the stage to accept his statue.
He addressed the crowd and the viewing audience briefly, saying, “Well, uh, I’ll make it real short. First and foremost I want to thank Team Breezy. This is my first time actually being able to direct a video by myself — and bring [my] vision to life. So I just want to thank everybody — all my management team, RCA, MTV, I thank everybody. I love ya’ll — my fans,” Chris said after receiving his award.
Brown beat out stiff competition from the likes of Justin Bieber and his NYC bottle battler Drake, proving that even though he has a bit of a bad reputation and is known for his temper, the fans still love him; as much as his ex RiRi does.
There were some concerns that Brown and Dreezy in the house, along with Rihanna, might prove crazy, too, but no one stepped out of line. There weren’t any home views shown of Chris’s girlfriend Karrueche Tran, so it’s uncertain if she attended the VMAs or not.
All in all, Chris Brown had a great winning night–as did Rihanna. And Drake didn’t walk away empty handed after losing out on the big award, instead, he won the lightly regarded Best Hip-Hop Video award.
Hopefully the three of them aren’t headed for some nightclub in L.A. right now. That could turn bad quickly! Fans will have to wait until Friday morning to learn what transpired following the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards!
It looks like MTV is taking sides in the whole Chris Brown-Drake feud. Brown won Best Male Video at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday night, besting his former friend, Drake. Earlier at the VMAs, host Kevin Hart joked about Brown and Drake’s New York City nightclub feud, saying Drake had thrown the bottle in a misguided attempt to recycle. Brown didn’t seem fazed by the jokes, and gave Hart a high five before accepting his Moonman statue. Brown’s ex-girlfriend Rihanna won for video of the year, while One Direction took home a number of awards, including best pop video and best new artist.
But it gets worst for Drake as a camera captured both Rihanna and Chris Brown giving each other a hug and a kiss amidst rumors that the two would be making some formal appearance together at the award show. Make of it what you may; I always wonder what role Karueche is really playing in Chris Brown’s life.
Interestingly, Brown received praise from an R&B legend earlier in the day, when Anita Baker applauded the singer and other young artists of the day on their ability to succeed professionally while dealing with personal trials and tribulations under public scrutiny.
“I also embrace…whatever it is that has allowed these young ones to endure what they endure publicly, and to still be able to present themselves to us,” she admits. “Historically, in my generation, all of my heroes and heroines have had issues and problems. We all do. Chris Brown is brilliant. That cat is crazy brilliant and I wish him the best.”

Lil Wayne Says He Loves Skateboarding

Lil Wayne Says He Loves Skateboarding Too Much, Says Music Is in Trouble

Lil Wayne's new found love is taking over his life.
The Young Money CEO has recently been publicizing his love for a new sport, skateboarding. He's been seen at numerous places with a skateboard and has even stated that he's been putting hours and hours into perfecting his craft. Well now it looks like it's taking over his life.

His new mixtape, "Dedication 4," even has him on the cover as a cartoon character, holding a skateboard with the title of the mixtape on it. Wayne recently spoke in an interview by saying the following: "I don't know. It's just something about conquering the whole idea of something difficult as riding a skateboard. That's what so great about skating to me. It's about challenge. It's about a physical challenge and mental. It's about a challenge in front of you that you actually say to yourself, 'This can't be done. It can't be done by me.' I really found a second love. And music is in trouble. Because I'm in love with this skateboarding shit."
Even though Wayne has found a new love in Skateboarding, he has put in some work on this mixtape. It is co-produced by DJ Drama and will feature Wayne remixing some of the hottest singles. Recently, he released his version of 2 Chainz's number one hit featuring Drake called "No Lie." Nicki Minaj also confirmed that she will be on the mixtape. You can figure that Wayne will also try and get his fellow Young Money artists such as Drake and Tyga to drop a verse as well.
Wayne figures to drop this mixtape as a last hurrah for his fans because he has not hinted at any clues about him working on a new album, which would be his 11th. Wayne seems to be perfectly content growing his other Young Money artists such as Drake and Nicki Minaj, and prefers to fade away from the music scene quietly to dedicate more time to skateboarding.

Lil Wayne quits hip-hop to skate

Lil Wayne quits hip-hop to skate

Apparently his broken clavicle and numerous stitches haven't put a damper on iconic rapper Lil Wayne's enthusiasm for skateboarding. Although the rapper's latest mixture, "Dedication 4," drops Aug. 15, last week in an interview with Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9, Wayne said he's going to be taking a hiatus from his music career to focus his full attention on skateboarding.
"I picked up the skateboard and I thought it'd be a hobby, and what happened is it's a lifestyle," he said. "In order to be fully committed, you have to live that lifestyle. With these young kids now, you have to be about that life. It's kind of putting rap on the back burner. Rap is taking a backseat to skating. I believe my fans deserve some peace from me. I'll be on my skateboard in the meantime."
In his latest interview, Wayne went on to describe a flat-bar and a quarter pipe he has installed in his recording booth, "so as soon as I get off the mic, I just drop the board down and skate." The prolific rapper, who's released nine albums and 17 mix tapes and appeared as a guest on hundreds of tracks, has been performing since he was 8 years old, when most kids would be asking their parents for their first skateboard.
With his long history behind a microphone and in front of an audience of millions, perhaps it's not surprising that he's stepping back.
"I'm always looking for the next thing to do. It does get pretty boring when it comes to just the rapping and all that type of stuff," he said.
In the past year, rumors of Wayne's skateboarding have heated up, as footage of him skating parks began to circulate on the Internet. The multi-platinum Grammy winner debuted his line of skate apparel, TRUKFIT, during the Agenda Trade Show this past January and currently is developing a line of Lil Wayne skate footwear to be manufactured by Supra.
Also, last week it was announced that through a partnership with Mountain Dew, the nonprofit youth mentoring program STOKED and the building expertise of California Skateparks, Lil Wayne will be bringing a skatepark to New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. Wayne is a New Orleans native and its proudest export, besides the Saints and gumbo. The skatepark will celebrate the community's revitalization after being devastated by Hurricane Katrina almost seven years ago.

Lil Wayne Expands TRUKFIT

Lil Wayne Expands TRUKFIT to Macy's, Plans Upscale Spin-Off
Lil Wayne

Skater chic is the look du jour for many hip-hop stars, from Odd Future's Tyler the Creator to Wiz Khalifa, but Lil Wayne is one rapper who's seriously putting in air time with his contemporary streetwear line, TRUKFIT (an acronym for "The Reason You Kill for It"). Colorful fitted caps, raw-edged shorts and graphic tees and hoodies dominate his half pipe-inspired line – clothes that Wayne, a skater himself, would conceivably wear.
Initially sold at the niche streetwear and skater hubs Karmaloop and Zumiez, respectively, TRUKFIT garnered a mainstream nod in June by expanding into select Macy's stores and online. Brand Director Mike Morris thinks their partnership with the retail giant fits with TRUKFIT's wide appeal and mid-tier price range (t-shirts run approximately $32). "You have a lot of middle American families that come there to shop, so it gives us the ability to reach out to those consumers," he tells Rolling Stone. "We're not trying to expose the line to people with large sums of money. This is for kids who appreciate the clothes, the quality."
Hip-hop fashion is rarely synonymous with affordability – quite the contrary, usually– and for sartorialists with deeper pockets, Morris shares that a higher end, cut-and-sew extension with fine quality fabrics and details is in the works for next year. "We'll still stay true to having the [skater] influence but it will be more fashion-forward," he explains.
A slew of celebrities have been seen in TRUKFIT recently, including rapper Cory Gunz, Fred Durst, professional skater P-Rod and Rihanna. "Quit talkin bout shit, and suck a ni**a dick for some TRUKFIT" Rihanna shared on Instagram last month and garnered over 27,000 likes. No one has been more of an ambassador than Wayne himself; aside from serving as creative director, he's hawked his wares at high-profile music and sports events like the X Games and SXSW. The consummate cross-promoter has also name-checked the brand in countless song lyrics, including French Montana's "Pop That" ("It's truck the world/ It's truck yo girl/ It's TRUKFIT by the truckload, biatch!") and "My Homies Still" ("TRUKFIT t-Shirt/ Talk second, skeet first").

Lil Wayne, DJ Drama Announce Dedication 4 August Release

Lil Wayne, DJ Drama Announce Dedication 4 August Release

Lil' Wayne has confirmed that his new mixtape, Dedication 4, will be released next month. On Sunday (July 22) Weezy took to Twitter to share, "Dedikation 4 komin next month." This will be the fourth installment of the DJ Drama-hosted series. Drama confirmed the tape by ReTweeting Wayne and later in an exclusive interview with MTV.
Fans have come to anticipate the mixtape series for featuring some of Wayne's best verses. The last Dedication mixtape came out in 2008 and featured appearances from Nicki Minaj, Drake and Jae Millz among others.
"Me & Cortez had been talkin back & forth for for bout a year that it was almost time for D4" Dram told MTV. "He said Tunechi had been mentioning it and was gearing up. During the Vegas stop on Club Paradise tour, Tez told me it was a 100% go. I told him thank god, cuz the fans invade my twitter daily asking about it! Dram & Wayne is a dangerous combination. Shout out to the Mixtape Weezy. Get ready."
Speculation over a new Wayne tape has buzzed online in the past few weeks. Wayne's DJ, DJ Scoob Doo, tweeted on July 11, "And I heard that mixtape is a 4th installment and not a 2nd#breadoverbed." He then released a video featuring a possible new mixtape cover (The cover is an homage to Nirvana's iconic 1991 Nevermind in which a young Wayne takes on the face of the baby in the swimming pool chasing the dollar). In the video, Weezy talks about his new "Bread Over Bed" motto. This "lifestyle" is about hard work and persistence. "Bread over bed is the reason why other people think you're different....It's not a saying...It's something we're living. This is something we are about," says Wayne.
He also shared with MTV News that he's been working on a follow up to I Am Not A Human Being. "I Am Not A Human Being II, that's what I'm workin' on right now, actually I'm finished. The difference between [this] album and the last I Am Not a Human Being would be the music wasn't rushed," Wayne said on June 16 in Atlanta after he finished performing at Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash. "Last time the music was rushed because I had to take that eight-month vacation on that island so we had rushed the music, but this time we didn't rush the music."

Lil Wayne, Bon Jovi, Rihanna

Aerosmith at The Q 2012

LOS ANGELES — Taylor Swift, Aerosmith, Rihanna, Usher, Bon Jovi, Lil Wayne, Green Day, Miranda Lambert, Mary J. Blige, Shakira and others are set to take the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival 2012 this fall in Las Vegas.
The stellar lineup suggests the two-day marketing blitz to promote Clear Channel's iHeartRadio digital music service is on its way to repeating the success of last year's debut concert.
Clear Channel, which also owns 850 terrestrial radio stations in the U.S., says Brad Paisley, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, No Doubt, Linkin Park, Jason Aldean, P!nk, deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris are also among the performers set for the festival on Sept. 21 and 22 at the MGM Grand. Ryan Seacrest will introduce the first night's show.
"Last year's iHeartRadio Music Festival had so many acts from so many different genres on one stage, a true rarity for a concert," Seacrest told The Associated Press Monday. "This year it's set to be bigger and better, with an unbelievable roster of some of the most talented names in the music business."
The lineup of performers reflects the diversity of artists on the digital music service, said the event's executive producer Tom Poleman.
"The cool thing about iHeartRadio is it's multiple genres of radio stations on one platform," he said. "It's cool when you can then translate that to a live event like the iHeartRadio Music Festival. It's fun to look around the audience and see, they may not have been into Brad Paisley when they got here, but suddenly the Rihanna fan becomes a country fan."
Last year's inaugural iHeartRadio concert featured Jay-Z, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Steven Tyler, Rascal Flatts, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga, among others.
The concert will play live on iHeartRadio.com and Clear Channel stations nationwide, Poleman said. Video of some performances will also be available through a partnership with Yahoo, he said, adding that Clear Channel plans to make the two-day, all-star show an annual event.

Lil Wayne says...

Lil Wayne says ‘there’s no beef’ with Pusha T as he focuses on new clothing line

LOS ANGELES — With a clothing line and a powerhouse group of artists under his umbrella, Lil Wayne claims he’s trying to stay above the fray. The rapper says “there’s no beef” between himself and Pusha T, despite back-and-forth diss songs released in recent weeks. Conflict between the two, simmering for years, boiled over when Pusha T of The Clipse — signed with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music group — released a track targeting Lil Wayne and his Young Money signee Drake.
Lil Wayne, who rarely responds in such cases, quickly released a brief song online called “Ghoulish” aimed at Pusha T “and anybody that love him.”
But in an interview at a Los Angeles Macy’s department store to promote his skateboarding-inspired Trukfit clothing line, Lil Wayne told The Associated Press he doesn’t plan to escalate the Pusha T conflict. He’s got business — and fashion — on his mind.
___
AP: What’s next musically? And what happened in the beef between you and Pusha T?
Lil Wayne: I just finished recording my “I Am Not a Human Being II” album. And we’re starting to work on the Young Money album. ... It really wasn’t no beef, you know. It was just me. I just reacted. Just a reaction, a simple reaction. I don’t apologize for it because I’m human. But it was just my human reaction. I don’t take it back. But there’s no beef. Beef is a whole different thing. ... I’ll move on.
AP: Do you consider yourself the most stylish rapper out there? How has your style evolved?
LW: I do not consider myself the most stylish rapper out there. I’d say if I had to consider someone the most stylish rapper out there, I would definitely say that would be a Kanye West or a Andre 3000. ... Yes it (my style) has evolved because I was one of the guys that would “geek chic” it every now and then. ... Now I’m just more into whatever works for me. I think that’s just age.
AP: What do you bring to skateboarding and why do you like it?
LW: Skating has so many styles. Once you pick up a skateboard, you’ll find out that it’s not a hobby, it’s not a sport, it’s a lifestyle. There’s so many styles to it that people enjoy that I bring a new one. ... I love a challenge. ... It’s fun as hell to fall and to not get something and then to finally land it. That’s like pursuing a girl that said no a hundred times and she finally say yeah. That’s what it feels like every single time.
AP: How did you start a clothing line?
LW: It was brought to me by my friends and peers. They was like, “Dude, you dress your own way and people follow that. You probably should have your own clothing line.” And it was just that easy.
AP: You also have a soda endorsement deal but don’t come across as a businessman like some of your peers. Do you deliberately keep it separated from your public persona?
LW: When it comes to me, myself, I’m very free-spirited, so that’s what you see, and that’s what you get — you as in the public eye. But when it comes down to business, I believe that business shouldn’t be done in the public’s eye anyway. And I believe that business shouldn’t be handled in the magazines anyway. Business should be handled in the room amongst the people you’re doing business with. And that’s how I handle my business. And once I come out of that room, I’m back to being who I am. And that’s why I don’t come off as the businessman or nothing, but at the end of the day you can always say: “... This guy’s stock keeps rising and there is no driving force behind it but him.”
AP: Are your business ambitions greater than your music ambitions?
LW: I can honestly say my music is always going to be greater than my business side. Because I’m naturally a musician. And I don’t have to get paid, I don’t even have to have businesses. I will still do music. So that will always be my greater thing. ... Business is business. And music is life.
AP: This is presidential campaign season. Do you plan to get political at all? Do you plan to go out and encourage kids to vote?
LW: I do. ... And that comes from age, and that comes from my vacation on Rikers Island (the New York City jail where Wayne did time in in 2010). Now that I know how important voting and elections and all that is. ... But everybody know that life is going to be life regardless of who is president.
