Lil Wayne Expands TRUKFIT

Lil Wayne Expands TRUKFIT to Macy's, Plans Upscale Spin-Off
Lil Wayne

Skater chic is the look du jour for many hip-hop stars, from Odd Future's Tyler the Creator to Wiz Khalifa, but Lil Wayne is one rapper who's seriously putting in air time with his contemporary streetwear line, TRUKFIT (an acronym for "The Reason You Kill for It"). Colorful fitted caps, raw-edged shorts and graphic tees and hoodies dominate his half pipe-inspired line – clothes that Wayne, a skater himself, would conceivably wear.
Initially sold at the niche streetwear and skater hubs Karmaloop and Zumiez, respectively, TRUKFIT garnered a mainstream nod in June by expanding into select Macy's stores and online. Brand Director Mike Morris thinks their partnership with the retail giant fits with TRUKFIT's wide appeal and mid-tier price range (t-shirts run approximately $32). "You have a lot of middle American families that come there to shop, so it gives us the ability to reach out to those consumers," he tells Rolling Stone. "We're not trying to expose the line to people with large sums of money. This is for kids who appreciate the clothes, the quality."
Hip-hop fashion is rarely synonymous with affordability – quite the contrary, usually– and for sartorialists with deeper pockets, Morris shares that a higher end, cut-and-sew extension with fine quality fabrics and details is in the works for next year. "We'll still stay true to having the [skater] influence but it will be more fashion-forward," he explains.
A slew of celebrities have been seen in TRUKFIT recently, including rapper Cory Gunz, Fred Durst, professional skater P-Rod and Rihanna. "Quit talkin bout shit, and suck a ni**a dick for some TRUKFIT" Rihanna shared on Instagram last month and garnered over 27,000 likes. No one has been more of an ambassador than Wayne himself; aside from serving as creative director, he's hawked his wares at high-profile music and sports events like the X Games and SXSW. The consummate cross-promoter has also name-checked the brand in countless song lyrics, including French Montana's "Pop That" ("It's truck the world/ It's truck yo girl/ It's TRUKFIT by the truckload, biatch!") and "My Homies Still" ("TRUKFIT t-Shirt/ Talk second, skeet first").

Lil Wayne, DJ Drama Announce Dedication 4 August Release

Lil Wayne, DJ Drama Announce Dedication 4 August Release

Lil' Wayne has confirmed that his new mixtape, Dedication 4, will be released next month. On Sunday (July 22) Weezy took to Twitter to share, "Dedikation 4 komin next month." This will be the fourth installment of the DJ Drama-hosted series. Drama confirmed the tape by ReTweeting Wayne and later in an exclusive interview with MTV.
Fans have come to anticipate the mixtape series for featuring some of Wayne's best verses. The last Dedication mixtape came out in 2008 and featured appearances from Nicki Minaj, Drake and Jae Millz among others.
"Me & Cortez had been talkin back & forth for for bout a year that it was almost time for D4" Dram told MTV. "He said Tunechi had been mentioning it and was gearing up. During the Vegas stop on Club Paradise tour, Tez told me it was a 100% go. I told him thank god, cuz the fans invade my twitter daily asking about it! Dram & Wayne is a dangerous combination. Shout out to the Mixtape Weezy. Get ready."
Speculation over a new Wayne tape has buzzed online in the past few weeks. Wayne's DJ, DJ Scoob Doo, tweeted on July 11, "And I heard that mixtape is a 4th installment and not a 2nd#breadoverbed." He then released a video featuring a possible new mixtape cover (The cover is an homage to Nirvana's iconic 1991 Nevermind in which a young Wayne takes on the face of the baby in the swimming pool chasing the dollar). In the video, Weezy talks about his new "Bread Over Bed" motto. This "lifestyle" is about hard work and persistence. "Bread over bed is the reason why other people think you're different....It's not a saying...It's something we're living. This is something we are about," says Wayne.
He also shared with MTV News that he's been working on a follow up to I Am Not A Human Being. "I Am Not A Human Being II, that's what I'm workin' on right now, actually I'm finished. The difference between [this] album and the last I Am Not a Human Being would be the music wasn't rushed," Wayne said on June 16 in Atlanta after he finished performing at Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash. "Last time the music was rushed because I had to take that eight-month vacation on that island so we had rushed the music, but this time we didn't rush the music."

Lil Wayne, Bon Jovi, Rihanna

Aerosmith at The Q 2012

LOS ANGELES — Taylor Swift, Aerosmith, Rihanna, Usher, Bon Jovi, Lil Wayne, Green Day, Miranda Lambert, Mary J. Blige, Shakira and others are set to take the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival 2012 this fall in Las Vegas.
The stellar lineup suggests the two-day marketing blitz to promote Clear Channel's iHeartRadio digital music service is on its way to repeating the success of last year's debut concert.
Clear Channel, which also owns 850 terrestrial radio stations in the U.S., says Brad Paisley, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, No Doubt, Linkin Park, Jason Aldean, P!nk, deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris are also among the performers set for the festival on Sept. 21 and 22 at the MGM Grand. Ryan Seacrest will introduce the first night's show.
"Last year's iHeartRadio Music Festival had so many acts from so many different genres on one stage, a true rarity for a concert," Seacrest told The Associated Press Monday. "This year it's set to be bigger and better, with an unbelievable roster of some of the most talented names in the music business."
The lineup of performers reflects the diversity of artists on the digital music service, said the event's executive producer Tom Poleman.
"The cool thing about iHeartRadio is it's multiple genres of radio stations on one platform," he said. "It's cool when you can then translate that to a live event like the iHeartRadio Music Festival. It's fun to look around the audience and see, they may not have been into Brad Paisley when they got here, but suddenly the Rihanna fan becomes a country fan."
Last year's inaugural iHeartRadio concert featured Jay-Z, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Steven Tyler, Rascal Flatts, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga, among others.
The concert will play live on iHeartRadio.com and Clear Channel stations nationwide, Poleman said. Video of some performances will also be available through a partnership with Yahoo, he said, adding that Clear Channel plans to make the two-day, all-star show an annual event.
